Book of 1 Corinthians - Chapter 14 - Verse 6

14:6
Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

Meaning

In this verse from Corinthians, the Apostle Paul discusses the importance of speaking in tongues within the context of the Christian community. Paul emphasizes that simply speaking in tongues without providing any meaningful content does not benefit the listeners. He suggests that true profit comes from communicating messages that are understandable and relevant to the audience. Paul lists four specific ways in which he believes true profit can be achieved: through revelation, knowledge, prophesying, and doctrine. By using these methods of communication, individuals can impart wisdom, insight, and guidance to others in a way that is beneficial and edifying. Paul's message serves as a reminder that effective communication within the Christian community should aim to enlighten and educate others, rather than simply showcasing one's own abilities or spiritual experiences.
