Book of 1 Corinthians - Chapter 5 - Verse 2

5:2
And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

Meaning

This verse from 1 Corinthians 5:2 addresses the issue of pride and lack of discipline within the Christian community. The Corinthians were being rebuked for their arrogance and failure to address and mourn the sinful behavior occurring within their midst. The passage suggests that instead of boasting about their own righteousness, the Corinthians should have responded with sorrow and a desire for justice to be carried out. By allowing such behavior to go unchecked, the community was putting up with sin in their midst, thereby compromising their moral integrity and Christian witness. The verse emphasizes the importance of holding one another accountable and maintaining purity within the church body. It serves as a reminder for believers to not tolerate sin within their ranks but to take action in order to preserve the unity and integrity of the community.
