Book of 1 John - Chapter 4 - Verse 5

When John says "They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them," he is reminding us that not everyone who shares spiritual teachings or claims to have divine insight is necessarily speaking the truth. The verse warns us to be discerning of the messages we receive and to be wary of those who are more concerned with worldly desires and values than with the teachings of Jesus. Those who are "of the world" are more likely to gain popularity and influence, as their message resonates with the desires and values of the worldly. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to seek out messages that align with the teachings of the Bible and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, rather than messages that simply cater to our worldly desires. By being discerning of the voices we listen to, we can ensure that we are following the true path of Jesus and living according to His will.
