Book of 1 Peter - Chapter 2 - Verse 5

2:5
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Meaning

This verse from 1 Peter 2:5 speaks to the concept of believers being as "lively stones" that come together to form a spiritual house or temple. Just like physical stones are used to build a physical structure, believers are built up as a spiritual dwelling place for God. The verse also refers to believers as a holy priesthood, indicating that all believers have a role in offering up spiritual sacrifices to God. These sacrifices are not physical offerings but rather acts of worship, prayer, and service that are pleasing and acceptable to God. The reference to Jesus Christ highlights the idea that it is through Him that believers are able to offer up these spiritual sacrifices and have a relationship with God. Overall, this verse emphasizes the importance of unity among believers, their role in worship and service, and the central role of Jesus Christ in their spiritual lives.
