Theological Overview

In this verse, the concept of a minister of Jesus Christ is highlighted. The phrase "good minister" implies not only fulfilling the duties of a minister but excelling in them. The word "minister" in the original Greek is "diakonos," which means servant or deacon. Therefore, a good minister of Jesus Christ is someone who serves faithfully and effectively in spreading the gospel and caring for the needs of others. The verse also emphasizes the importance of being grounded in the "words of faith and of good doctrine." This suggests that a good minister is not only someone who is knowledgeable about their faith but also lives it out in their daily life. The phrase "nourished up" implies continual growth and learning in the teachings of Christ. By putting the brethren in remembrance of these truths, a minister fulfills their role effectively, guiding others in their faith journey and helping them grow in their understanding of God's Word.
