17:3
And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

Meaning

In this verse, we see that the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed in the ways of his father David. Jehoshaphat was a king of Judah who reigned after Solomon. He was known for his commitment to serving God and for seeking after Him wholeheartedly. By not turning to Baalim, which were idols worshipped by the Canaanites, Jehoshaphat demonstrated his faithfulness to the one true God. This verse emphasizes the importance of staying true to God and following in the ways of righteousness. Jehoshaphat's dedication to God led to God's presence being with him and blessing him during his reign. As believers, we can learn from Jehoshaphat's example and strive to walk in obedience to God, seeking Him above all else. When we remain faithful and steadfast in our devotion to God, we can experience His presence and favor in our lives, just as Jehoshaphat did.
