Book of Acts - Chapter 13 - Verse 22

13:22
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

Meaning

In this verse, God is speaking about David, the second king of Israel. God removed Saul as king because he disobeyed Him, and instead raised up David, the son of Jesse, to be the new king. God specifically chose David as a man after His own heart, meaning that David's heart aligned with God's will and desires. This description of David shows that he had a deep and sincere relationship with God, seeking to follow His commands and fulfill His will. By proclaiming David as a man after His own heart, God is emphasizing David's loyalty, faithfulness, and obedience to Him. Throughout David's reign, he demonstrated his commitment to God through his actions and decisions, such as his defeat of Goliath and his humility in acknowledging his sins. This verse highlights the special relationship David had with God and provides insight into the qualities that made him a great and respected king in the eyes of God.
