Book of Acts - Chapter 23 - Verse 9

23:9
And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

Meaning

In this verse from the book of Acts, we witness a significant moment where the scribes who were part of the Pharisees acknowledge the presence of something divine in a man they are discussing. The scribes, despite being on the opposing side, recognize that there is no evil in the man they are discussing. Their statement reflects a moment of clarity and honesty where they are open to the possibility that the man may have received a message from a spirit or an angel. They understand the importance of not fighting against God and suggest a more cautious approach in dealing with the situation. This verse highlights the idea of being open-minded and willing to consider alternative perspectives when faced with the unknown or inexplicable. It serves as a reminder to approach situations with humility and a willingness to seek the truth, even if it challenges our beliefs or preconceived notions.
