Book of Acts - Chapter 7 - Verse 5

7:5
And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

Meaning

The verse you are referring to is Genesis 13:15. In this verse, God is making a promise to Abram (later known as Abraham) that He will give him the land as a possession, even though at the time, Abram did not have any children. The promise was made to Abram, but he did not immediately receive an inheritance in the land. This indicates that the promise of God is not dependent on immediate circumstances or possessions, but on God's faithfulness and timing. It also underscores the idea that God's promises are often fulfilled over time, requiring trust and patience on the part of the recipient. This verse serves as a reminder that God's promises are eternal and will be fulfilled in His perfect timing, even when the fulfillment may seem impossible from a human perspective.
