Book of Exodus - Chapter 10 - Verse 2

10:2
And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Exodus emphasizes the importance of passing down stories of God's miraculous works from generation to generation. By recounting the events of the Israelites' deliverance from Egypt, God instructs the Israelites to share these stories with their children and grandchildren so that they may come to know the power and sovereignty of the Lord. The purpose of this command is to ensure that the memory of God's mighty acts remains alive in the hearts of future generations. Through retelling these stories, the Israelites are reminded of God's faithfulness, provision, and protection, which not only strengthens their own faith but also serves to educate and inspire the younger generations. In this way, the Israelites are able to cultivate a deep reverence for the Lord and a sense of their identity as His chosen people. This verse underscores the significance of oral tradition in preserving the collective memory of a community and passing on spiritual truths that shape their beliefs and values.
