Book of Exodus - Chapter 12 - Verse 17

12:17
And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.

Meaning

The verse instructs the Israelites to observe the feast of unleavened bread to commemorate the day God brought their armies out of the land of Egypt. This feast was to be a lasting ordinance, to be observed by all generations. The feast of unleavened bread was a reminder of the Israelites' deliverance from slavery in Egypt and a celebration of their newfound freedom. By observing this feast, the Israelites were showing their gratitude to God for His deliverance and acknowledging His power and faithfulness. Additionally, the feast served as a way for future generations to remember and honor the history of their people and the miraculous acts of God on their behalf. It was a time of reflection, thanksgiving, and unity for the Israelites, emphasizing the importance of remembering their past and recognizing God's sovereignty in their lives.
