Book of Exodus - Chapter 17 - Verse 4

17:4
And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

Meaning

When Moses cried out to the LORD in this verse, he was expressing his fear and desperation as he faced the complaints and potential violence of the Israelites. After leading them out of Egypt and through the Red Sea, Moses found himself in a difficult situation where the people were losing faith and turning against him. By asking, "What shall I do unto this people?" Moses was seeking guidance and reassurance from God on how to handle the situation and protect himself from harm. The mention of the people almost stoning Moses highlights the severity of the threat he was facing, as stoning was a common form of punishment in ancient times. By turning to the LORD in his time of need, Moses demonstrates his reliance on God for strength and wisdom in leading the Israelites through challenging times.
