Book of Exodus - Chapter 19 - Verse 11

19:11
And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Exodus is a call to action from God to the Israelites. In this verse, God instructs the people to prepare themselves for his appearance on Mount Sinai. The third day is significant in many biblical stories, symbolizing completion, fulfillment, and divine intervention. By asking the Israelites to be ready on the third day, God is setting a deadline for them to purify themselves and be spiritually prepared to witness his presence. The mention of Mount Sinai, a sacred mountain in Israelite tradition, adds to the importance of the event, as it is believed to be the place where God made the covenant with his people. Therefore, this verse serves as a reminder for believers to always be ready and prepared for the divine to descend into their midst, emphasizing the need for spiritual readiness and obedience to God's commandments.
