Book of Exodus - Chapter 2 - Verse 5

2:5
And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

Meaning

In this verse from the book of Exodus, we see the daughter of Pharaoh coming down to the river to bathe. As she and her maidens walk along the river's edge, she notices a strange object among the reeds - the ark containing baby Moses. Despite the risks involved, she sends her maid to fetch the ark to investigate further. This act would ultimately lead to her discovering Moses, the Hebrew baby who would later become a powerful leader and prophet in the Old Testament. This small act of compassion and curiosity by the daughter of Pharaoh played a crucial role in the history of the Israelites and in the fulfillment of God's plan. It shows us that sometimes, unexpected encounters and the willingness to look beyond preconceived notions can lead to profound and transformative outcomes.
