3:16
Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:

Meaning

In this verse from the book of Exodus, Moses is instructed by God to gather the elders of Israel together to deliver a message. The message conveyed by Moses to the elders is a reaffirmation of God's presence among the Israelites. By identifying Himself as "the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob," God establishes a connection with the Israelites, reminding them of their ancestors' relationship with Him. The phrase "appeared unto me" highlights the personal encounter Moses had with God, emphasizing the divine nature of the message he is delivering. The following statement, "I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt," signifies God's awareness of the Israelites' suffering and His intervention on their behalf. This verse serves as a precursor to God's plan to deliver the Israelites from bondage in Egypt, setting the stage for the events that will unfold in the subsequent chapters of Exodus.
