Book of Exodus - Chapter 33 - Verse 16

33:16
For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

Meaning

In this verse, Moses is speaking to God about the importance of His presence among the Israelites as they journey through the wilderness. Moses understands that the true measure of God's favor and grace towards His people is manifested through His being with them. The phrase "wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight?" expresses Moses' desire for a tangible manifestation of God's favor towards the Israelites. He recognizes that it is through God's presence with them that they are set apart from all other nations on earth. This divine presence sets them apart as a people chosen and blessed by God, giving them a unique identity and purpose. For the Israelites, the presence of God is the ultimate sign of His grace and favor, separating them from all other nations.
