35:27
And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;

Meaning

In this verse, we see the rulers contributing onyx stones and other precious stones for the creation of the ephod and breastplate. The ephod was a garment worn by the high priest in ancient Israel, and the breastplate was a highly ornamented piece of ceremonial attire. These stones were not just any ordinary stones, but ones specifically chosen for their significance and beauty. The onyx stone, in particular, was believed to have protective properties and was often used in jewelry and ceremonial objects. By providing these stones for the ephod and breastplate, the rulers were demonstrating their commitment to the service of God and the importance of the priesthood in carrying out the rituals and ceremonies of the tabernacle. This act of generosity and devotion from the rulers highlights the significance of these garments and the meticulous care taken in their creation, emphasizing the importance of honoring God through the use of precious and carefully selected materials.
