Book of Exodus - Chapter 37 - Verse 14

37:14
Over against the border were the rings, the places for the staves to bear the table.

Meaning

In this verse from the Bible, the mention of rings and staves in relation to the table is a reference to the construction of the Table of Showbread, which was one of the sacred pieces of furniture inside the Tabernacle. The rings mentioned were used to hold the staves, or poles, which were used by the Levites to carry the Table. The Table of Showbread held twelve loaves of bread, symbolizing the twelve tribes of Israel, and was considered a holy object within the Tabernacle. The rings and staves mentioned in this verse served a practical purpose in allowing the table to be transported while also symbolizing the importance and sacredness of the bread it held. This verse, like many others in the Bible, serves as a reminder of the attention to detail and reverence for sacred objects that were an integral part of ancient religious practices.
