13:9

Furthermore, they will not be allowed to enter the land of Israel, which was considered a place of blessing and promise. By delivering this message, God asserts His authority and sovereignty as the Lord GOD, emphasizing the consequences of spreading falsehoods and misleading the people. This verse highlights the importance of discerning true prophecy from deceit and upholding the principles of honesty and integrity in spiritual leadership.

Theological Overview

The verse from Ezekiel 13:9 contains a warning from the Lord against false prophets who speak lies and deceive the people. The phrase "prophets that see vanity" refers to those who claim to have revelations from God, but in reality, their visions are empty and false. Similarly, those who "divine lies" are seeking to profit or gain followers through deceitful means. The Lord declares that these prophets will face His judgment - they will not be a part of the community of His people, their names will not be recorded in the register of Israel, and they will not inherit the promised land. This serves as a reminder to the people of Israel that only those who speak the truth and follow the ways of the Lord will be allowed to dwell in His presence. The solemn proclamation "and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD" underscores the authority and power of God over His people, reinforcing the importance of discerning true prophets from false ones.
