Book of Ezekiel - Chapter 14 - Verse 8

14:8
And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Meaning

When the Bible mentions setting one's face against someone, it signifies God's strong disapproval and judgment against that individual. In this particular verse, God is warning of the severe consequences for those who disregard His commandments and live in rebellion. By making someone a sign and a proverb, God is indicating that this individual will serve as a warning to others, showing the repercussions of disobedience. Being cut off from the midst of God's people signifies being separated and removed from the community, experiencing the full extent of God's judgment. Through these actions, God aims to remind His people of His sovereignty and power, emphasizing that He is the one true Lord who demands obedience and reverence. This verse serves as a cautionary message, urging believers to remain steadfast in their faith and devotion to God, lest they face His righteous wrath.
