Book of Ezekiel - Chapter 7 - Verse 19

7:19
They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

Meaning

In this verse, the prophet Ezekiel is warning the people of Israel about the consequences of their idolatry and sinfulness. The imagery of casting silver and gold in the streets represents the futility of relying on material wealth and possessions for protection and security. Instead of turning to God for guidance and protection, the Israelites have placed their trust in their wealth, which will ultimately fail them in the face of God's wrath. The verse emphasizes that material possessions cannot satisfy the spiritual needs of the people or provide true fulfillment. The accumulation of wealth has become a stumbling block for the Israelites, leading them further away from God and deeper into sin. This verse serves as a reminder to prioritize a relationship with God above all else and to seek true satisfaction and fulfillment in Him, rather than in earthly riches.
