Book of Ezra - Chapter 10 - Verse 9

10:9
Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.

Meaning

Following the call to gather in Jerusalem, the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled within a remarkably short period of three days. The urgency of the situation is emphasized by the timing of the gathering, which took place in the ninth month, specifically on the twentieth day. Despite the heavy rain that was pouring down upon them, the people came together at the house of God, demonstrating their commitment and dedication to the matter at hand. The mention of the people trembling suggests a sense of awe and reverence at the significance of the gathering, and perhaps also a fear of the consequences of what was to come. Their willingness to endure the discomfort of the rain and the emotions they were experiencing underscores the gravity of the situation that was unfolding. This gathering served as a pivotal moment in the history of Judah and Benjamin, signifying a united front in facing whatever challenges lay ahead.
