Book of Genesis - Chapter 24 - Verse 51

24:51
Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken.

Meaning

In this verse from the book of Genesis, Rebekah is being presented to a servant as a wife for his master's son. The servant, sent by Abraham to find a wife for his son Isaac, has prayed to the Lord, asking for a sign to show him who the chosen woman should be. When Rebekah arrives at the well and offers to draw water not only for him but also for his camels, the servant sees this as a sign from God and praises Him for leading him to the right woman. The phrase "as the Lord hath spoken" highlights the belief that God is guiding the events and fulfilling his promises. This verse demonstrates the importance of faith and trust in following God's will and the belief that He will provide for those who seek Him. It also emphasizes the significance of marriage as a sacred institution ordained by God and the belief in divine providence in the lives of believers.
