Book of Genesis - Chapter 35 - Verse 5

35:5
And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

Meaning

When the sons of Jacob, also known as the Israelites, journeyed through the land, the surrounding cities were stricken with fear because of the reputation of God's power and protection over them. The presence of God among the Israelites instilled a sense of terror in the neighboring cities, causing them to refrain from pursuing after the sons of Jacob. This verse highlights the belief in the divine protection of God and illustrates the power that faith can have in creating a shield of safety for those who follow His guidance. The fear instilled in the surrounding cities served as a deterrent, preventing any potential threats or attacks from occurring against the Israelites. It showcases the notion that by walking in alignment with God's will, believers can experience a sense of security and preservation, even in the face of potential dangers.
