Book of Genesis - Chapter 42 - Verse 34

42:34
And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffic in the land.

Meaning

Joseph, in the book of Genesis, is testing his brothers when he asks them to bring their youngest brother to him in Egypt. By requesting this, he aims to verify their honesty and intentions. Joseph was suspicious of his brothers and wanted to see if they were being truthful about their identity and intentions. He wanted to test whether they were truly honest men or just spies pretending to be seeking food during a famine. By bringing their youngest brother to him, Joseph would be able to confirm their credibility. If they indeed brought their youngest brother, he would know they were genuine and would fulfill his promise to return their brother and allow them to trade in the land. This verse showcases Joseph's wisdom and discernment as he tests his brothers in a strategic manner to discover the truth about their character.
