Book of Genesis - Chapter 7 - Verse 4

7:4
For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

Meaning

In this verse from the book of Genesis, God is speaking to Noah, instructing him to prepare for a great flood that will cover the earth for forty days and forty nights. This flood will serve as a judgment upon the wickedness of mankind, with God purposing to destroy all living creatures that He has made from the face of the earth. This verse illustrates God's sovereignty and power as the creator and ruler of the world. It also highlights the importance of obedience and faith in God's commands, as Noah is given specific instructions to build an ark and gather animals in order to survive the coming flood. The verse serves as a reminder of the consequences of sin and the need for repentance and righteousness. Through this act of judgment, God ultimately demonstrates His justice and mercy, as He provides a way of salvation for those who believe and follow His word.
