10:12
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Meaning

In this verse, the author of the book of Hebrews is emphasizing the significance of Jesus Christ's sacrifice for sins. By offering himself as a sacrifice, Jesus provided a permanent solution for the forgiveness of sins. Unlike the repeated sacrifices required by the Old Testament law, Jesus' sacrifice was a once-for-all atonement for sin. This act demonstrated the completeness and efficacy of Christ's sacrifice, as it did not need to be repeated. The imagery of Christ sitting down at the right hand of God symbolizes his finished work of redemption. In Jewish culture, sitting down signified the completion of a task or the attainment of a position of honor and authority. By sitting down at the right hand of God, Jesus demonstrated his exalted position and authority as the ultimate high priest and mediator between God and humanity. The placement at the right hand of God also signifies equality, power, and intimacy with God the Father. Overall, this verse highlights the unique and unparalleled sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind.
