Book of Isaiah - Chapter 17 - Verse 11

17:11
In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Isaiah conveys a powerful message about the consequences of actions. It speaks about the importance of diligence and hard work in nurturing and growing a plant or seed until it flourishes. The verse uses vivid imagery to describe the process of planting and cultivating, emphasizing the care and effort required to see a successful outcome. However, despite all the work put into making the plant grow and the seed flourish, the ultimate result is described as a heap in the day of grief and desperate sorrow. This serves as a cautionary tale about the unpredictable nature of life and the inevitability of facing hardships despite our best efforts. The verse highlights the fleeting nature of success and the importance of resilience in the face of adversity. It encourages readers to remain steadfast in their beliefs and actions, even in the face of difficulties, as the harvest of their efforts may not always yield the expected results.
