Book of Isaiah - Chapter 60 - Verse 7

60:7
All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

Meaning

In this verse, the prophet Isaiah is speaking on behalf of God, promising a time when even the most remote nations and peoples will come to worship Him. The flocks of Kedar and the rams of Nebaioth represent these distant tribes, symbolizing all the different peoples of the world. When it says that these flocks and rams shall come together and minister unto God, it signifies a unity among all people in the worship of the one true God. The imagery of them coming up with acceptance on God's altar conveys the idea that all nations, no matter how different, will be welcomed and embraced by God when they come to Him with sincere hearts. And the promise to glorify the house of God's glory proclaims that God will exalt and honor His dwelling place, signifying His presence and favor among His people. In essence, this verse foretells a time when all nations will turn to God and worship Him in unity and acceptance, strengthening the bond between God and His creation.

Theological Overview

The verse you are referencing comes from Isaiah 60:7 and speaks to the prophet's vision of the future glory of God's people. In this verse, the flocks of Kedar and the rams of Nebaioth are symbolic of the offering of worship and obedience to God from all nations. Kedar and Nebaioth were both descendants of Ishmael, who was Abraham's son through Hagar. The mention of these tribes signifies that even those who were once considered outsiders or enemies will come to worship and serve God. The phrase "they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar" highlights the idea that all people, regardless of their background, are invited to offer themselves in service to God and will be accepted.
