Book of Jeremiah - Chapter 16 - Verse 13

16:13
Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.

Meaning

When God speaks of casting His people out of their land into a foreign land where they will serve other gods day and night without His favor, He is expressing great disappointment and anger towards their continued disobedience and idolatry. This verse serves as a warning of the consequences that come from turning away from God and worshipping false idols. By being sent to a land they do not know, God is showing His people that they cannot expect His protection and blessings when they choose to forsake Him. The imagery of serving other gods day and night emphasizes the severity of their betrayal and the depth of their sin. This verse serves as a reminder that God is a jealous God who will not tolerate the worship of anything or anyone other than Him. It is a call to repentance and a plea for His people to return to Him before it is too late.
