Book of John - Chapter 19 - Verse 18

19:18
Where they crucified him, and two others with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

Meaning

This verse describes the moment of Jesus' crucifixion, where he was placed between two others who were also being crucified. The placement of Jesus in the midst of the two criminals carries symbolic significance in Christian theology. It is often interpreted as a representation of Jesus' role as the savior of mankind, positioned between sinners in order to save them from their sins. This act of crucifixion is seen as the ultimate sacrifice, as Jesus willingly took on the sins of humanity in order to provide redemption and salvation. The image of Jesus being in the midst of the two criminals also serves as a reminder of the grace and mercy that he offers to all, regardless of their past transgressions. This verse is a powerful reminder of the love that Jesus has for all people, and the extent to which he was willing to go in order to offer them forgiveness and eternal life.
