Book of John - Chapter 3 - Verse 3

3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Meaning

When Jesus spoke these words to Nicodemus, he was emphasizing the importance of spiritual rebirth in order to enter the kingdom of God. By being "born again," a person undergoes a profound transformation in their inner being, allowing them to see, understand, and experience the things of God in a new way. This rebirth signifies a spiritual awakening and a turning away from a life focused on the flesh and worldly desires. It involves a surrendering to God, a cleansing of sin, and a renewal of the mind and heart. Without this spiritual rebirth, one remains blinded to the truths and realities of the kingdom of God. Jesus was pointing out that the kingdom of God is not something that can be grasped or comprehended through natural means alone, but requires a supernatural work of God in a person's life. Through this verse, Jesus was challenging Nicodemus, and all readers, to consider the state of their own hearts and the necessity of a spiritual rebirth in order to truly experience the kingdom of God.
