Book of John - Chapter 7 - Verse 18

7:18
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Meaning

This verse from the Bible highlights the importance of humility and genuine intentions in one's words and actions. It cautions against self-promotion and seeking personal glory, emphasizing the significance of giving credit and glory to God instead. By prioritizing the glory of the one who sent us, rather than seeking our own recognition, we reflect truth and righteousness in our character. This serves as a reminder to focus on serving God's purposes and aligning our actions with His will, rather than seeking validation or attention for ourselves. In doing so, we demonstrate humility, sincerity, and integrity in our relationships and interactions with others. Ultimately, this verse encourages us to shift our perspective from self-centeredness to God-centeredness, allowing His glory to shine through our words and deeds.
