Theological Overview

David's questioning of the Ammonites in 2 Samuel 10:7 reveals insights into theological interpretations and provides guidance for word studies. The phrase "I put my life in my hands" demonstrates David's bravery and trust in the Lord as he faced the enemy alone. This can be seen as a foreshadowing of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, where He willingly laid down His life for others. The phrase "the LORD delivered them into my hand" emphasizes God's sovereignty and his role in empowering David to defeat his enemies. This highlights the importance of relying on God's strength and guidance in times of conflict. Furthermore, the question "wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?" reveals David's confusion over why the Ammonites would choose to come against him, despite the Lord's intervention on his behalf. This can serve as a reminder of the consequences of going against God's chosen ones, ultimately leading to defeat. Overall, this verse provides a rich tapestry of theological themes and word studies that can deepen one's understanding of God's providence and the consequences of defying His will.
