Book of Luke - Chapter 10 - Verse 24

10:24
For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Meaning

This verse from the Gospel of Luke highlights the privilege that the disciples had in being able to witness the miracles and teachings of Jesus firsthand. It emphasizes the idea that many prophets and kings in the past had longed to experience and hear the things that the disciples were able to witness, but were not granted the opportunity. This can be seen as a message of gratitude and recognition of the special blessing that the disciples received by being in the presence of Jesus and having the ability to directly hear his teachings. The verse serves as a reminder to cherish and appreciate the spiritual experiences and knowledge that one is presented with, as they may not come around again. It also encourages believers to reflect on the historical context of their faith and the many who came before them, longing for the same insights and revelations that they have been fortunate enough to receive.
