Book of Luke - Chapter 15 - Verse 19

15:19
And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

Meaning

When the prodigal son uttered these words in the Bible, he was expressing deep remorse and humility for his actions. By acknowledging that he was no longer worthy to be called his father's son, he was willing to accept the consequences of his rebellion and disobedience. The son was also willing to work as a hired servant, showing his desire to make amends and be reconciled with his father. This verse serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of repentance and humility in our relationship with God. It teaches us that no matter how far we may have strayed, God is always ready to welcome us back with open arms if we come to Him with a contrite heart. The prodigal son's plea to be made a hired servant also highlights the value of hard work, humility, and service in our spiritual journey. Through this verse, we are reminded of God's unconditional love and forgiveness, no matter how unworthy we may feel.
