Book of Luke - Chapter 7 - Verse 9

7:9
When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Meaning

When Jesus heard the centurion's words expressing his faith in Jesus' authority to heal his servant, Jesus marveled at him. This verse highlights the extraordinary faith of the Roman centurion, a non-Jew, as he believed in Jesus' power without needing to see a physical act of healing. Jesus praised the centurion's faith, stating that he had not found such great faith even among the people of Israel, who were the chosen ones. This encounter illustrates the inclusivity of Jesus' ministry, as he acknowledges and commends faith regardless of the person's background or status. It also serves as a reminder to us that faith can be found in unexpected places and people, urging us to have faith in Jesus' power to work in our lives. This moment exemplifies the beauty of faith and serves as an encouragement for believers to trust in Jesus wholeheartedly.
