Book of Mark - Chapter 9 - Verse 32

9:32
But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

Meaning

When Jesus spoke to his disciples, there were times when they did not fully grasp the depth of his words. In this particular instance, the disciples failed to understand what Jesus was trying to convey to them. Despite their confusion, they were hesitant to seek clarification from him out of fear. This serves as a reminder of the importance of asking questions and seeking understanding, even when things may seem unclear or daunting. It also highlights the human tendency to feel intimidated or ashamed when we do not immediately comprehend something. However, it is crucial to remember that seeking knowledge and seeking clarification are essential steps in spiritual growth and learning. By being open and curious, we allow ourselves to deepen our understanding of faith and teachings.
