Book of Matthew - Chapter 23 - Verse 11

23:11
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Meaning

Jesus teaches in this verse that true greatness is not defined by power, wealth, or status, but by humility and service to others. By stating that the greatest among us should be a servant, he challenges societal norms and expectations. In this way, Jesus is emphasizing the importance of putting others before ourselves and using our gifts and talents to serve those around us. This concept aligns with the core teachings of Christianity, which emphasize love, compassion, and selflessness. By being a servant to others, we demonstrate our faith and obedience to God, following in the footsteps of Jesus, who came not to be served, but to serve. This verse serves as a powerful reminder that true greatness comes from a heart of service and a willingness to humble ourselves for the greater good.
