Book of Matthew - Chapter 24 - Verse 27
Meaning
When Jesus spoke of His return in the verse “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,” He was using a powerful and vivid metaphor to describe the suddenness and unmistakable nature of His second coming. Just as lightning is a dramatic and awe-inspiring event that lights up the sky and captures everyone's attention, so too will be the return of Jesus Christ. The imagery of lightning coming from the east and shining to the west symbolizes the universal and unstoppable nature of His return. It will be a momentous event that will be visible to all, from every corner of the earth. This verse serves as a reminder to believers to be watchful and ready for the return of Jesus, as it will happen suddenly and without warning, just like a bolt of lightning that cuts through the darkness.
