Book of Matthew - Chapter 8 - Verse 10

8:10
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Meaning

The Centurion, a Roman soldier, demonstrated great faith in Jesus, believing that he only needed to speak the word for his servant to be healed. Jesus marvels at the Centurion's faith, not because he expected it from a Gentile, but because he found such strong belief in someone who was not part of the traditionally faithful community of Israel. This moment highlights the inclusive nature of Jesus' ministry, showing that faith and belief in him can be found in unexpected places. It serves as a reminder that true faith transcends boundaries and is not confined by nationality or background. The verse showcases Jesus' power to heal and the importance of having faith in his abilities. It also underscores the message that anyone, regardless of their background, can have a deep and strong faith in Jesus, which he recognizes and rewards.
