Book of Numbers - Chapter 16 - Verse 9

16:9
Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?

Meaning

This verse reflects a call to the Levites, the tribe chosen by God to be set apart for service in the tabernacle. The Levites were separated from the rest of the congregation of Israel to minister before the Lord and to serve the people. This privilege was not to be taken lightly, as it required a deep commitment to God and service to others. By being set apart, the Levites were given the responsibility of leading the people in worship, offering sacrifices, and maintaining the tabernacle. They were to represent the people before God and assist in maintaining the spiritual well-being of the community. This verse serves as a reminder of the unique role and responsibility that the Levites had in serving God and His people. It emphasizes the significance of their calling and the importance of approaching their service with reverence and dedication.
