Book of Numbers - Chapter 18 - Verse 24

18:24
But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Numbers in the Bible outlines the practice of tithing among the children of Israel. The tithe was a tenth of their produce or income that the Israelites were required to give to the Lord as an offering. In this verse, God instructs that the tithes offered by the Israelites are to be given to the Levites as their inheritance. The Levites, who were the priestly tribe of Israel, were not allocated a portion of land like the other tribes. Instead, they were to receive the tithes as their source of provision. By giving the tithe to the Levites, the rest of the children of Israel were fulfilling their duty to support those who dedicated their lives to serving the Lord. This verse emphasizes the importance of providing for those who are called to full-time ministry and highlights the principle of giving back to God from what he has blessed us with.
