Book of Numbers - Chapter 18 - Verse 26

18:26
Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

Meaning

The verse under discussion instructs the Levites, who were a special tribe of Israel dedicated to serving in the temple, about the proper way to handle tithes given to them by the rest of the Israelites. The tithes were a tenth of the people's produce, which was meant to support the Levites who did not own land. The verse emphasizes the importance of offering a portion of the tithes they received back to the Lord as a heave offering. This heave offering was to be a tenth part of the tithe, showcasing a dedication to God and acknowledging that all blessings ultimately come from Him. By following this instruction, the Levites were demonstrating their faithfulness and commitment to God, recognizing His provision and sovereignty over all things. This verse serves as a reminder for believers today to give back to God a portion of what He has blessed us with, trusting in His faithfulness and provision.
