Meaning

In this verse from the book of Numbers in the Bible, God is instructing Moses on the arrangement of the tribes of Israel as they camp and travel. Each tribe is assigned a specific location around the tabernacle to set up camp, with Issachar being placed next to Judah. The tribe of Issachar, represented by Nethaneel the son of Zuar as their captain, plays a crucial role in the community of Israel. The tribe of Issachar was known for their wisdom, understanding of the times, and ability to discern what Israel should do (1 Chronicles 12:32). This placement signifies the importance of Issachar's contribution to the overall unity and organization of the camp of Israel. By following these instructions, each tribe had a specific role to play in supporting and advancing the mission of the community as a whole, highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation within the people of God.
