Book of Proverbs - Chapter 27 - Verse 10

27:10
Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Proverbs highlights the importance of maintaining strong friendships and connections with those close to us, especially in times of need. It emphasizes the value of loyalty and solidarity with both friends and family members. The verse cautions against abandoning those who have shown kindness and support, as well as advises against seeking help from distant relatives when faced with adversity. It suggests that a caring neighbor who is nearby is more valuable than a brother who is far away and may not be able to offer immediate assistance. This sentiment underscores the significance of cultivating relationships with those in our immediate community and relying on them for help and support when necessary. By prioritizing and nurturing these closer connections, we can create a strong support network that can provide comfort and aid in times of trouble.
