Book of Psalms - Chapter 123 - Verse 2

123:2
Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

Meaning

The verse "Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us." speaks to the importance of humility, obedience, and reliance on God. The comparison of servants and maidens looking to their masters and mistresses for guidance and direction shows that just as they depend on their earthly authorities, believers are called to depend on the Lord for mercy and provision. This verse emphasizes the need for believers to wait patiently on God, trusting in His timing and His plans. By keeping our eyes fixed on the Lord and seeking His mercy, we demonstrate our faith and surrender to His will. It serves as a reminder that our ultimate hope and salvation come from God alone, and that we are to continually seek His guidance and care in all aspects of our lives.
