18:4
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Revelation is a call for God's people to separate themselves from the sinful ways of the world. The voice from heaven urges believers to come out of "her," which is often interpreted as representing the corrupt and godless society that exists in opposition to God's teachings. By heeding this call, followers of Christ can avoid being influenced by the sinful practices of the world and thus avoid facing the consequences of these actions. The verse emphasizes the importance of maintaining one's faith and purity in the face of temptation and immorality. By staying faithful to God and His commandments, believers can safeguard themselves against the plagues and punishments that may befall those who choose to partake in sin. Ultimately, this verse serves as a reminder for Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and to live lives that are pleasing to God, despite the challenges and temptations that may arise.

Theological Overview

One theological interpretation of the verse "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" is that it serves as a warning against participating in the corrupt systems and practices of the world. The voice from heaven is calling God's people to separate themselves from the sinful ways of the world in order to avoid the consequences of being associated with them. This verse emphasizes the importance of holiness and purity among believers, urging them to distance themselves from worldly influences that may lead them astray. Additionally, a word study on "Come out" in this verse reveals the Greek word "exerchomai," which conveys the idea of withdrawing or departing from a place. This further emphasizes the need for believers to physically and spiritually separate themselves from the sinful world in order to remain faithful to God.
