Book of Revelation - Chapter 3 - Verse 12

3:12
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Meaning

Revelation 3:12 speaks to believers who overcome the trials and temptations of the world, promising them a place of honor in the kingdom of God. The verse uses vivid imagery to convey the rewards for those who remain faithful in their walk with God. By making them a "pillar in the temple," God symbolically signifies their strength, stability, and permanence in His presence. The assurance that they "shall go no more out" emphasizes the eternal security and unshakeable nature of their relationship with God. The act of God writing His name and the name of the city of God, New Jerusalem, on the overcomers signifies their belonging to Him and their citizenship in the heavenly kingdom. Furthermore, the promise of a new name given by God underscores a new identity and a closer, more intimate relationship with Him. Overall, this verse offers encouragement and hope to believers, reminding them of the ultimate reward for their unwavering faith and perseverance in Christ.
