3:22
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Meaning

This verse emphasizes the concept of righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ being accessible to all who believe, without distinction. The righteousness of God is not earned through works or merit, but rather received through faith in Jesus Christ. This highlights the inclusive nature of God's righteousness, as it is available to everyone who puts their trust in Him. The phrase "unto all and upon all them that believe" reinforces the idea that righteousness is not limited to a select few, but is open to all who place their faith in Jesus. This verse teaches that there is no distinction or discrimination when it comes to receiving the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a powerful reminder of the universal offer of salvation and righteousness that is extended to all who believe in Jesus, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Theological Overview

The phrase "the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all" highlights the concept of imputed righteousness in Christian theology. This means that believers are considered righteous in the eyes of God not because of their own actions or behavior, but because of their faith in Jesus Christ. The word "faith" here is crucial, emphasizing that righteousness is obtained through belief in Jesus rather than through works or adherence to the law. The following phrase "for there is no difference" underscores the idea that this righteousness is available to all who believe, regardless of ethnicity, social status, or any other distinguishing factor. This verse emphasizes the universal nature of God's righteousness, which is freely available to all who put their trust in Jesus Christ.
